Nissan Diesel Motors, now known as UD Trucks Corporation (effective from 01 February) is going to begin sale of Volvo trucks in Japan from March 2010.  It is aiming at expanding the sales volume of Volvo trucks in Japan.

There are fifty six authorized service dealers and nine authorized dealers for Volvo Trucks throughout Japan whose business activities are being supported by the UD Trucks Corporation.  The company’s domestic sales and marketing team is handling them.

Also in addition to the above UD Trucks Japan, a domestic sales subsidiary is launching sales activities targeted at the major fleet customers for Volvo trucks in Japan.  The sales divisions who are dealing with the major fleet customers have been given the task of promoting and selling the following trucks:

• Volvo FM- This is a heavy duty tractor which is used for short distances and for local transport.
• Volvo FH- This is a heavy duty tractor which can be used for long distance transportation.

The Volvo group has reported a 66% increase in the delivery of UD trucks (formerly known as Nissan Diesel) taking it to 2127 vehicles in February 2010.  This is because of 93% growth in Asia and 154% growth in North America, year on year.

Currently there are 4 dealers for UD Trucks Japan who are giving after sales services for the Volvo trucks in Japan.  These are located in the following cities :-Nagoya (Aichi Prefecture), Kofu (Yamanashi Prefecture), Kawaguchi (Saitama Prefecture) and Sendai (Miyagi Prefecture).  UD Trucks Japan plans to gradually increase the network of such services in an attempt to increase convenience of its customers.

Meanwhile the current authorized dealers and service providers of Volvo trucks of Japan’s Volvo sales base will continue providing sales and servicing for Volvo trucks.
